KANOWIT: An elderly woman was reported missing after failing to return home after heading out to dispose of rubbish near the banks of Batang Rajang last Friday (Nov 24).

The victim, identified as Lijah Lambong, 58, was said to have left her house around noon but did not come back as expected.

By 5pm on the same day, her family initiated a search for her to no avail.

It was also reported that Lijah has hearing difficulties.

A spokesman for the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said that Lijah’s disappearance was reported to the police for search and rescue (SAR) assistance the next day (Nov 25).

Firemen from Kanowit station were deployed to the scene at Rh Man Nanga Dap after receiving an emergency call around 4.15pm yesterday (Nov 25).

At the time of writing, the search is still ongoing and the victim is yet to be found.
