BAU: A tragic three-vehicle collision along Jalan Kuching-Bau this morning, claimed the life of an elderly rider.
The accident, involving a motorcycle, a Perodua Viva and a soil-laden lorry, happened near Kampung Keranji around 8 am.
It was reported that the victim, identified as Liew Jiu Tchin, 73, died after he was thrown off his motorcycle.
This accident resulted in a major traffic congestion extending up to 6km.
Firemen from Bau station were dispatched to the scene after receiving an emergency call and upon arrival, they found the victim unconscious.
Paramedics from Bau Hospital confirmed that Liew died at the scene and his body was handed over to the police for further action.
The Viva and lorry drivers escaped unscathed.
Meanwhile, Bau police chief DSP Jawai Francis when contacted, confirmed the fatal accident and the case is under police investigation.
