KUCHING: Infrastructure development, education and human capital, as well as spirituality, are the three main focuses for empowering communities in the Mambong constituency.
According to Deputy Minister of Transport (Road and Aviation) Datuk Dr Jerip Susil, these three focuses are vital in developing the community and families.
“By establishing places of worship to meet the needs of the community, it is indeed a commendable effort in fostering spiritual values in life and bringing about changes to development and the lifestyle of unity,” he said.
Dr Jerip, who is also Mambong assemblyman, said this in his speech during a dinner event organised by the Women Fellowship of Saint Monica Chapel, Kampung Bangau, recently.
He also encouraged the church authorities to make good plans in efforts to develop churches and Christian adherents.
“Sarawak is fortunate to have agencies dedicated to developing places of worship and other religions such as the Unit for Other Religions (UNIFOR),” he said.
He said it is an initiative of the Premier, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg where the Sarawak government has allocated RM120 million to UNIFOR to assist in the development of non-Muslim places of worship, and RM12 million is used for mission schools.
During the event, Dr Jerip approved RM40,000 for the Minor Rural Project or Special Project Grant for the Women Fellowship Committee of Saint Monica Chapel.
At the same time, Dr Jerip also handed over a Special Project Grant cheque amounting to RM30,000 to the Village Development and Safety Committee (JKKK) of Kampung Bangau.
