KUCHING: Muslims should make reciting the Quran a daily ritual to foster a love for God’s word.

Early exposure to the Quran, especially for the younger generation, is believed to create a group that loves the Quran. Tanjong Datu Assemblyman Azizul Annuar Adenan wants parents to encourage their children to study and make it a daily practice.

“Send your children to classes and provide them with enough materials so that we can ensure they start reading and become well-versed in the Al-Quran from a young age,” he said.

He made these remarks while speaking at the inauguration of the postponement of the 2023 Lundu District Level Al-Quran Recitation Council at Dewan Mahligai Gading here last night.

According to him, the recitation of the Quran is not just about listening to the reciter’s soft voice but also understanding the message conveyed through the verses read.

The ceremony saw Abdul Haziq Mohamad Hashim and Che Salmah Abdul Razak crowned as champions for qari and qariah.
