BINTULU: The National Consumer Action Council (MTPN) Bintulu branch is set to collaborate with the Social Security Organisation (Socso) to enhance the distribution and understanding of various social welfare benefits available to the community.
MTPN Bintulu chairman Chiong Ying Ying highlighted this initiative, emphasising that many individuals are unaware of Socso’s welfare benefits.
“Language barriers often lead elderly citizens who are not proficient in the national language to receive incorrect information about welfare benefits when visiting Socso offices,” she said.
Chiong made these remarks following a courtesy call on the Socso Bintulu branch manager Jimmy Hendrick Kijon, recently.
She was accompanied by six other MTPN members during the visit.
“To address this issue, MTPN and the Socso Bintulu branch will organise additional seminars aimed at raising awareness and understanding among the community on social security benefits,” she added.
She said the seminars will provide relevant information to help individuals better comprehend the benefits they are entitled to and how to maximise these benefits to improve their quality of life.
