KUCHING: Police are hot on the trail of the 31-year old Indonesian suspect identified as ‘Bony’ who escaped from the Tapah police station lockup on June 12.

Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Mohd Azman Sapri said the search has entered day 31.

“Patrols to locate Bony have been organised and the police stations in Batu Kawa, Kota Padawan, Kota Sentosa, Siburan, Tapah and Beratok have been alerted to hunt for the suspect.

“Throughout the operation, a total of 64 police personnel from the Padawan district police headquarters have been assigned to locate the suspect,” he said in a statement today.

He said a mugshot of the suspect has been handed out during recent ‘meet-and-greet’ programmes to ensure the public can come forward if they have information on the suspect.

Meanwhile, Mohd Azman the other escapee, identified as Kelvin, 21 also from Indonesia, was arrested by the police on June 15 at a fish premise at Mile 22 along the Kuching-Serian road.

“Kelvin was charged under Section 224 of the Penal Code at the Magistrates’ Court on June 20 and was sentenced to one year in jail,” he said.

He appealed to the public to call the Padawan police (082-862233) if they come across the suspect.
