LUNDU: A 39-year-old employee of a prawn farm is now under the police radar after he absconded from the farm with RM2,500 in cash and other valuables.

Initital report on Friday (June 7) revealed that the man went missing after failing to return to his hostel in Rambungan by dusk on Thursday, which prompted his Filipino colleague to contact the owner of the farm for assistance to locate the man. They then searched the area but to no avail due to the dark condition.

A search and rescue (SAR) operation was activated on Friday following the report of a missing person. The search team found the shirt belonging to the man some 50 metres from his grass cutting machine.

However, the man’s colleague informed the operation commander that his belongings (a watch) and RM2,500 in cash were also missing.

The SAR operation ended at 3.15pm with the man still yet to be found, and the case was handed over to the police for further action.
