SONG: Three local men died on the spot after their motorcycle skidded and collided head-on with an oncoming car along KM4, Jalan Song-Kapit, yesterday (July 15).

Song police chief DSP Rowney Michael Jalak said the fatal crash occurred around 5.30pm and involved a Yamaha motorcycle ridden by the three victims and a Proton Wira driven by a 19-year-old man.

Investigations found that the accident happened when the victims’ motorcycle, travelling to Kapit from Song, veered out of control and crashed into the car travelling in the opposite direction.

“The victims were identified as 38-year-old Joshua Richard, 51-year-old Sempun Lau, and 57-year-old Jimbai Ujam.

“All of them were pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics, and their bodies were taken to the hospital for post-mortem examinations,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Proton Wira driver was unharmed in the collision.

Rowney added that the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
