BINTULU: A local man with intellectual disabilities lost his life in an unfortunate hit-and-run incident at Junction 5, Jalan Tun Hussein Onn here last Saturday (Jan 13).
The incident happened around 3.20 am near the Taman Puteri junction when the victim attempted to cross the road.
Bintulu police chief Supt Batholomew Umpit said the victim was believed to have been struck by a vehicle during the crossing.
“Police are actively pursuing the individual and the vehicle involved in the incident.
“We are examining CCTV footages from locations near the incident and are relying on information provided by the public.
“The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987,” he said in a statement.
