Father, son left homeless after fire guts house in Sematan

LUNDU: A father and his son were left homeless after their single-storey house in Kampung Trusan Jaya, Sematan, was razed to the ground this morning (Oct 26).

Fortunately, the tenants aged 67 and 31, managed to get out to safety without sustaining any injuries.

A spokesman from the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said firemen from Lundu station were despatched to the scene after receiving a distress call around 7.45am.

Upon arriving, the team confirmed that the wooden house was beyond saving and the extinguishing deed was carried out.

The flames were brought under control around 8.17am and it was successfully put out around 8.45am.

The cause of the fire and losses incurred is still under investigation.

Also present at the scene were Sematan auxiliary firemen, police and Civil Defence Force (APM).
