MIRI: An empty lorry tanker caught fire along the Miri -Bintulu coastal road, near Nyalau Suai Niah on Wednesday morning (June 23).

Fortunately, no one was injured in the 9.56am incident.

According to Miri Fire and Rescue Department chief Supt Law Poh Kiong, the tanker’s driver, aged 67, managed to get out of the vehicle seconds after it burst into flames.

“The driver had pulled over at the area after he noticed smoke coming out from one of the tanker’s rear tyres,” he said.

Prior to the incident, the tanker was heading to Miri from Bintulu.

A team of firemen from Batu Niah fire station arrived at the scene shortly after and dosed out the blaze that had engulfed the tanker.
