KUCHING: A family of seven was rendered homeless following a fire which razed their house at Kampung Mundai, Padawan on Friday.

State Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) spokesperson said a team of firefighters from the Siburan fire station rushed to the scene after receiving a report on the incident at 6.37pm.

The semi-permanent single-storey house was 80 per cent destroyed.

A total of 10 Bomba volunteers from Kampung Simpok were also present to assist the firemen in extinguishing the fire.

The flames were brought under control at 7.18pm and completely put out at 9pm.

No injuries or casualties were reported during the incident and the cause of the fire is still being investigated.
