SEBUYAU: Fire razed through two blocks of shop lots in Sebuyau town on Saturday afternoon (Aug 6).

A total of 10 units of shop were destroyed in the blaze, according to the State Fire and Rescue Department operations centre.

It said a report on the incident was received at around 2.20pm.

“A team of firefighters from the Simunjan and Asajaya Fire and Rescue Stations were rushed to the scene to extinguish the fire.

“The operational commander reported a fire involving two blocks of semi-permanent shop buildings that were completely destroyed by the fire.

“The two building blocks have six and four shop lots respectively,” it said in a statement.

The firemen used transport pumps with open water sources and fire hydrants to extinguish the fire.

Early reports also noted that no casualties or injuries were reported in the incident.

The cause of the fire and the estimated loss are still under investigation by the department’s Forensic Unit.
