Firefighters rescue driver after head-on crash

KUCHING: A male driver was rescued from his one-tonne lorry following a head-on collision with a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) at Bukit Binong, Jalan Serian-Tebedu today (Oct 18).

The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) reported that Serian fire station firefighters were dispatched at 9.18 am after being alerted to the incident.

“Upon arrival, they found the victim’s right leg trapped between his seat and the lorry’s frame. 

“Using rescue tools, they successfully freed the 53-year-old driver and provided initial medical aid on-site. Fortunately, the MPV driver escaped physical injuries,” it said in a press release.

The lorry was en route to Tebedu, while the MPV, driven by an Indonesian, was heading from Tebedu to Serian when the accident happened.
