KUALA LUMPUR: Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Minister Datuk Salahuddin Ayub told the Dewan Rakyat today: “The penalty for foreign vessels trespassing into Malaysian waters will be increased from RM1 million to RM6 million, while for crew (raised) from RM100,000 to RM600,000.”

He said the amendment affects Section 25 (Act 317) and that a new penalty with a limit of RM4 million will be added for deep-sea fishing vessels caught for fishing activities in local waters. – Bernama
