SELANGAU: Five men sustained injuries following a two-vehicle accident along Jalan Sibu-Bintulu this morning.
The accident, involving a Proton Wira and a Proton Saga, happened at around 9.25am near Kampung Pasai.
Firemen from Selangau station were promptly despatched to the scene to commence rescue works.
Upon arriving, the team discovered the Wira driver trapped in his seat with severe injuries. He was subsequently freed using rescue tools.
They also managed to rescue four other victims in the Saga, who had only suffered minor injuries.
All of the victims, aged between 27 and 58, were taken to the hospital for further treatment.
Before calling the operation a wrap, the team carried out flushing works to ensure the safety of road users.
