MUKAH: The flyovers at certain stretches of the multi-billion ringgit Pan Borneo Highway are gradually taking shape.

Flyovers are major components in the project, which constitutes a certain percentage of the contract cost.

A survey by New Sarawak Tribune recently found that one is being constructed in Sibu; it is located at the roundabout of Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman (leading to Sibu Airport and Sibu Jaya) and Jalan Bintulu-Selangau.

The other flyover is in Selangau and located at the junction of Jalan Selangau-Bintulu and Jalan Selangau-Mukah.

Construction of flyovers are challenging, looking at the scope of work and the building materials as well as the area involved.

Nevertheless, when completed, flyovers are important because they facilitate traffic flow and simultaneously reduce congestion.
