KUCHING: The food delivery rider community in Kuching mourned the loss of their fellow colleague who died in an accident last Thursday.

The rider identified as Muhamad Audi Zikry Abdul Rahman, 20, was killed in a collision with a car at Jalan Bampfylde.

One of the riders disclosed to New Sarawak Tribune that many among the delivery rider community headed to the victim’s house at Jalan Datuk Ajibah Abol to pay their last respects soon after the accident.

“It was really sad news to hear about our rider’s passing. He was my colleague in this industry, even though I do not know the victim well.

“We felt that we (food delivery rider community) have to contribute a bit to the victim’s family as a sign of respect,” the rider, who asked to be anonymous, said.

Sarawak Traffic Police chief Supt Alexson Naga Chabu said the accident happened around 6pm when both vehicles were coming from opposite directions.

Alexson said the case is being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
