GEORGE TOWN: Police arrested a foreign national on suspicion of running an unlicensed money-lending business in a raid of a house in Bayan Baru near here last Wednesday.
The Barat Daya district police headquarters, in a statement today, said the suspect was a 27-year-old man who has been working as a factory operator in Bayan Lepas since 2014.
“He is believed to have carried out the money lending business since last year by targeting factory workers in Bayan Lepas,” read the statement.
He is on remand for investigation under Section 5(2) of the Moneylenders Act 1951. – BERNAMA
