LUNDU: Opar assemblyman Billy Sujang is optimistic that the projects that were previously hindered in the constituency could be continued.

According to news report by Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS), prior to this matter, Billy held a working visit to Kampung Selampit together with the implementing agencies namely the Public Works Department (JKR) and the Sarawak Land and Survey Department to identify the location that has been set as the site for the construction of the Kampung Selampit Bridge here recently.

Apart from the construction of the Kampung Selampit Bridge, the construction project of Jalan Kendaie-Selampit as an alternative road was also brought to his attention.

UKAS said the estimated cost for the construction of the Selampit Bridge is around RM27.94 million and the construction cost of Jalan Kendaie-Selampit is estimated at RM72 million.

“The scope of construction of the bridge is 200 metres long and 6.5 metres wide, including the construction of road access and drainage system around the area.

“Both projects are one of Billy’s efforts to fulfil his manifesto during the last state election in which he will resume the works for development in the affected Opar state constituency while under the helm of the opposition.

Meanwhile, Billy said, further action will be taken to ensure the project can be implemented immediately to benefit the residents of four villages in the Selampit zone, including Kampung Kendaie, Kampung Bukit Batu, Kampung Pasir Tengah and Kampung Pasir Hilir thus reducing travel time to Kuching city.
