KUCHING: Yayasan Farley’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme aims to build a high-quality community.

For example, the foundation initiated the Children Fire Safety Champion programme to instil the importance of fire safety in school children.

Yayasan Farley president Eijing Lau said the programme is a collaboration between his foundation and its strategic partners Fire and Rescue Department (BOMBA) Sarawak and Fire Prevention Council Malaysia (FIPCOM).

He said the most important factor in building a high-quality community is the people living within the community itself.

“Being able to develop the children’s ability through learning when they are young and curious sets great foundations for their future.

“Yayasan Farley will continue to work towards fulfilling our mission, we believe that this cooperation with BOMBA Sarawak and GIPCOM is a big step towards building a community with better quality,” he said during a press conference at Farley Kuching today (Aug 19).

Meanwhile, FIPCOM chief trainer Lim Kim Leng said fire safety education is an extremely important skill to acquire.

He said taking part in proper fire safety training programmes will provide communities with skills such as recognising hazards, being able to complete a fire risk assessment, taking action by calling 999 and understanding how to respond in case of an emergency.

He pointed out that all of these are indispensable skills which will give people the potential to completely eliminate fire risks anywhere.
