Four deaths bring toll to 280

KUCHING: Sarawak recorded four new Covid-19 deaths today (May 29), bringing the state’s death toll to 280.

The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said two deaths each were reported in Kapit and Bintulu.

The 277th death was that of Case 40,445, a 72-year-old local woman who was admitted to the Kapit Hospital after having fever, cough and difficulty in breathing for a week.

After testing positive for Covid-19 on May 20, the woman’s health condition deteriorated and she died on May 24. She had   hypertension and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

The 278th death was that of Case 41,668, a 58-year-old local man who was admitted to the Covid-19 Low Risk Quarantine and Treatment Centre (PKRC) after testing positive for Covid-19 on May 21.

He was referred to the Bintulu Hospital for further treatment due to difficulty in breathing and after  his rT-PCR test came back positive on May 22.

The man’s health condition deteriorated and he died on May 26. He had hypertension, diabetes and dyslipidemia.

The 279th death was of Case 44,037, a 63-year-old man who was admitted to the Bintulu Hospital. He had experienced symptoms such as fever and cough for a month.

His RTK Antigen and rT-PCR tests came back positive on May 26. The man’s health condition deteriorated and he died on May 28. He had hypertension and diabetes.

The 280th death was of Case 36,452,  a 59-year-old local woman who was admitted to the Kapit Hospital because of fever and coughing.   

Her rT-PCR test on May 8 came back positive on May 11. The woman’s health deteriorated and she died on May 28. She had diabetes and end-stage kidney disease.
