Holding and manipulating a pingpong ball is a great exercise for arthrose sufferers.

As soon as the first signs of arthrosis appear in hands, you should immediately take steps to counter the symptoms. These four easy finger exercises will help combat the symptoms.

The Carousel: Place two ping-pong balls in the palm of the hand. With an open hand try to circle the balls around one another. Do this exercise for three minutes in a clockwise and then counter-clockwise direction. Then switch hands.

The Screw: Hold a tennis ball between the thumb and one of the five fingers. Then make a twisting motion, similar to when opening and closing a jar. Repeat 10 times.

The Coronet: Hold a tennis ball on the tips of three or four upstretched fingers and get the ball to turn. Switch directions after three minutes.

The Crocodile: Place a small rubber ball in the palm of the hand and keep it in place with the thumb. Then roll the ball to and from the fingers. Do this eight to ten times. – dpa
