MATU: Deputy Integrity Minister and Ombudsman Datuk Dr Juanda Jaya announced that he will again carry out his initiative to provide free beef to all 5,000 household heads in Jemoreng on Saturday.
According to him, the effort – the sixth to be held – will see the distribution of 10 tonnes of beef to every inhabitant of his Jemoreng constituency, regardless of background.
“All praise to Allah, this year’s Hari Raya Korban will be celebrated by the people of Jemoreng thanks to the distribution we hold each year,” he said at the contribution handover ceremony here yesterday.
The distribution, he said, can bring back the gotong-royong spirit between the Surau, the Mosque Committee, and the Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK).
“I observed that many people have returned to the village because Hari Raya is over an extended holiday this year and many are taking the opportunity to visit family members since they were unable to do so last Raya.
“Accordingly, this is our programme that keeps providing assistance in the form of two kilogrammes of meat for each family registered with us.”
He went on to say that in the interim, as part of the Hari Raya Korban celebration on Sunday, the Matu District Mosque Committee had also scheduled a sacrificial killing that would take place following the Hari Raya prayers and sermon.
The Mosque and Surau Committee in the Jemoreng constituency will distribute the sacrificed meat to all Muslim communities.
“The JKKK who delivered all of these donations, just like in today’s event, are among those who have been with us for the past five years and have made a gotong royong effort to distribute these meats to recipients in their various communities,” he added.
