Further strengthening ties with Sabah

KUCHING: Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) is looking forward to working with newly appointed Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor in strengthening beneficial and meaningful ties with the federal government.

Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Dr James Jemut Masing in stating this, said he was sure Hajiji’s appointment, representing Perikatan Nasional (PN), Barisan Nasional (BN) and Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS), will also further strengthen the good relationship between Sarawak and Sabah over the years.

“I’m also confident that the Cabinet whom he will appoint to assist him in administrating Sabah will be people of experience, integrity, and with calibre,” he said when contacted by New Sarawak Tribune on Monday (Sept 28).

On behalf of Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS), Masing, who is also the party’s president, offered his heartiest congratulations to Hajiji for his appointment as Sabah’s chief minister.

Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) vice-president Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah when contacted breathed a sigh of relief to see Sabah finally appointing a chief minister.

He said he was also confident that Hajiji will be able to bring Sabah forward and bring in stability.

“I believe Hajiji is a good choice,” he added.

Earlier, Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) has unanimously named Hajiji, who is also Sabah PN chairman, as its chief minister for the new state government.

This was announced in a press conference after a meeting involving the coalition’s state assemblymen today (Sept 28).

Hajiji is scheduled to take his oath as Chief Minister of Sabah at the Istana Negeri tomorrow (Sept 29), the media was told at the conference.
