SIBU: The push for education in digitalisation and innovation is important to create awareness on opportunities within Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) learning.
Urban Jungle Asia hosted an event called “Ruang Kreasi” recently, in partnership with Sibu Digital Innovation Hub, Sarawak Digital Economic Corporation, Pustaka Negeri Sarawak Sibu and Tegas Digital Innovation Hub.
The event aimed to introduce and continuously push boundaries of learning within the Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) syllabus in Sarawak.
The four sessions were Drawing, Painting and Art Therapy, Introduction to Game Designs, Introduction to Non-Fungible Tokens (NFT) and STEAM Fun Activity Session.
According to founder Sharifah Nurhidayah, the first series of Ruang Kreasi was mainly intended to introduce STEAM and to spark the interest of the young ones in gaining more knowledge about Artificial Intelligence (AI), Robotics, Virtual Reality (VR) and many others.
“I think it’s important for the kids and youths to be exposed to the potential careers of the future that might not even exist nowadays by exposing them to solid STEAM-learning knowledge.
“Based on the number of participants, we will continuously begin to open classes and enrolment for STEAM learning via virtual and physical class starting February.”
The Sibu-based startup offers services such as UrbanEdu and Urban Creatives.
“Each of our subsidiary serves different purposes centred on innovation with the same objective to achieve a top-notch way of living.
“At the moment we are focusing on UrbanEdu, which is a STEAM-focused learning academy. Our aim is to bridge the gap between youths from urban and rural areas and to spread awareness on career opportunities, knowledge, and skills in STEAM learning.”
For the record, Urban Jungle Asia has been awarded the Social Impact Accelerator by Tegas Digital Innovation Hub and participated in Shell Livewire 2021.
