MANGUT: Young members of the community are urged to take part in activities held by the government.

This is vital in ensuring their voices are heard and their aspirations met, especially in helping to improve the economy.

Deputy Minister of Community Wellbeing Development Mohamad Razi Sitam admitted that the support of youth today is very important in various ways.

According to Razi, they should not be left behind and their involvement in government programmes is highly encouraged.

“I hope the Pergerakan Pemuda Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Saribas branch can invite more youth to join PBB and Pertubuhan Belia Kebangsaan Bersatu Sarawak (Saberkas), hence putting them under one umbrella.

“When we are strong, I am confident the voices and aspirations of this group can be met.

“Sarawak government really puts a lot of emphasis on looking after the needs of young people, because they are the ones who will be the backbone in the future, thus causing the necessity for them to be polished,” he said.

The Saribas assemblyman said this after the Saberkas bubur lambuk distribution programme and Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS) visit to Kampung Mangut, yesterday (Apr 24).

He expressed confidence in the ability of new leader of the Pergerakan Pemuda PBB Saribas branch, Sulastre Sulaiman, to mobilise various plans for youth.

At the programmed organised by Saberkas Saribas branch in collaboration with the Saribas assemblyman service centre, Razi completed the distribution of 700 packets of bubur lambuk.

Razi also used the opportunity to present cash donation and food aid to a blind resident Hajijah Rabee to ease the burden of family members.

He also broke his fast with the residents of Kampung Mangut.
