OYA:  A plan to build a new kindergarten in Kampung Senau here could be realised provided Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) is given a fresh mandate, said Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Women chief Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah.

The Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development Minister called on the people to support GPS.

“Support GPS so that we can continue bringing more development,” she said when officiating at the ‘Program Sepakat@Komuniti Pembudayaan Norma Baharu: Putuskan Rantaian Covid-19’ at Kampung Senau community hall here on Saturday (Nov 7).

Fatimah, who is also Dalat assemblywoman, said the state election has to be held, even if there is a pandemic.

She said even though the current State Legislative Assembly will automatically dissolve on June 6 next year, the election would still be held within 60 days after the date of dissolution.

She pointed out that in the coming election, campaigning would be done differently because of the standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Therefore, she hoped that the Election Commission (EC) would be strict in implementing the SOPs after learning a lesson from the election in Sabah and even the United States of America.

The minister said Sarawakians have good discipline and “if all of us cooperate and comply with the SOP, God willing, we would be able to break the chain of Covid-19”.
