Industrial trainees in the government sector and government-linked companies (GLCs) will now receive a minimum monthly allowance of RM800.
While not specifying the implementation date, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim emphasised the significance of the allowance, particularly for trainees from underprivileged backgrounds, who traditionally did not receive any compensation.
Anwar also urged the private sector to follow suit and provide allowances to their industrial trainees.
