KUCHING: Head of State, Tun Dr. Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, accompanied by his wife Toh Puan Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, received a courtesy visit from the Chief Sharia Judge of the state Sharia Judiciary department, Datuk Awang Suhaili Ledi, at Astana Negeri recently.

The purpose of the visit was to inform Wan Juniadi about the Sharia Court’s appointment of judges which falls under Tun’s jurisdiction and his direct involvement with the organisation of the State Judiciary department.

Wan Junaidi proposed strengthening the Sharia Court in the legislative context, including suggestions for law amendments, judicial institutions especially regarding protocols, appointments, and so on.

The Judiciary department also received constructive advice from Tun, as an experienced legal professional.

At the same time, Awang Suhaili announced that a swearing-in ceremony for judges of the Court of Appeal, Sharia Court, and High Court would be held, and  to be officiated by Tun on a later date.

Also present were Sharia High Court judges Sua’ibon Shamsuddin Abu Bakar, Mahiden Sah, Rosidi Masli, deputy chief registrar Noor Rafidah Ali, SULH Unit Chief Najarudin Nedri, Lower Sharia Court judge Suhardi Bujang, and research officer to the Chief Sharia judge Mohd Hazim Borhan.
