KUCHING: Sibu’s Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) candidate Clarence Ting did not retort with the result of the 15th general election (GE15) as people of Sibu had spoken through their votes.

“I accept the result as the people of Sibu have spoken through their votes.

“However, I plan to continue to serve through the Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) branches in SUPP Bawang Assan, SUPP Pelawan, and SUPP Nangka,” he said when contacted by the New Sarawak Tribune yesterday.

Following this, as a Sibu Municipal Council chairman, he said that he is planning to hold the position until his term ends.

“For that, I will continue to work closely with the GPS assemblymen to seek funds for Sibu as the SMC chairman.

“Other than that matter, I will leave it up to the GPS leadership,” he said.

Meanwhile, he also congratulated his opponent Oscar Ling of Democratic Action Party (DAP) for winning the seat.

“I hope that Ling will bring the voice of Sibu people to Parliament for the betterment of Sibu,” he added.
