SIBU: Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) is targeting victory in all the parliamentary seats in the state in the coming 15th general election (GE15).

GPS chairman and Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said the party also wanted to regain Selangau, Lubok Antu, Julau and Sri Aman seats which the opposition won in the last general election.

“For that, we have to work together and be in ‘one boat’ to face the upcoming general election,” he said.

He was officiating at the opening of Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) 5th Triennial Delegates Conference (TDC) at Kingwood Hotel here on Sunday (Apr 24).

Abang Johari stressed that unity within the party must be maintained as well as there must be political stability to win in the general election.

“We do not only want to be the kingmaker. That is not our objective. Our objective is to be the voice of Sarawak.

“Because the voice of Sarawak must be listened to, and we will continue our agenda towards 2030,” he pointed out.

Later at a press conference, Abang Johari said that GPS was prepared to face the GE15 anytime it is called for.

“We do not know when the GE15 will be held, but we are already ready just like how we prepared for the 12th state election.

“Our preparations need not be announced loudly, but as long as we just continue to do our work and the people can see what we are doing,” he said.

To a question on whether he would advise parties in GPS to field more women candidates in the GE15, he said that he would leave it to the respective components to decide on whom they would want to nominate.
