KUCHING: Utilising the skills they possess, hairstylist duo, Al Nezirul Aljapri and Al Nezuri Aljapri embarked on a journey to pursue their dreams of opening their barbershop. Today, the twins – founders and resident stylists of Al Barbershop – operate a thriving business.

Al Barber Shop owners Nezirul and Nezuri shared their grassroots of starting their business from collecting enough money from their door-to-door barber service earnings running since 2019.

“A few years ago, I worked at a barbershop in Sibu and after gaining more self-confidence in my skills and with the techniques (hair cutting and styling) I have improved over time, I intended to start a barber business of my own.

A customer is having his hair cut.

From there began the twin’s journey.

“Since not many people offer barber services in our village (Kampung Jemoreng), my brother and I decided to officially Al Barbershop in April last year,” said Nezirul, adding that is located near the Kampung Jemoreng mosque is the only barbershop in the village.

Operating from as early as 9am until 6pm, the twins provide a service not only to their village folk but customers from other villages who also enjoy getting their hairdo at their shop.

“Sometimes we would open beyond our normal hours ( up until late at night) because of the overwhelming number of customers, ” he added.

When asked about his hopes, Nezirul and Nezuri’s goal is to grow their business and have other branches of Al Barbershop in different areas.
