KUCHING: Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Sarawak branch’s Farm Management Unit (Unit Pengurusan Ladang) recently organised a ‘pick and pluck’ (pilih dan petik) programme.

In a statement, UiTM Sarawak said the programme took place at Block N in its Samarahan campus on Tuesday (Mar 9).

“The programme came from the university’s rector, Professor Datuk Dr Jamil Hamali who wanted to give an opportunity for every staff to experience selecting and picking vegetable crops cultivated by the Farm Management Unit.

“There are three types of salad, namely green coral lettuce, looseleaf lettuce and butterhead lettuce, which are hydroponically grown in the farm located at our Samarahan campus,” it said.

The university added that members of the Samarahan campus were also excited to participate in the programme as well as not miss out on the chance to taste fresh vegetables grown by the unit.
