Head of State opens 18th DUN sitting

KUCHING: The first session of the 18th Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting was graced by Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud, here, yesterday.

Taib arrived at the DUN complex 9.40am and was accompanied by his wife Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Raghad Kurdi Taib.

Upon his arrival, he inspected a guard of honour, comprised of personnel from the 11th Battalion, General Operations Force Batu Kawa.

A recitation of prayers was followed by the national and state anthems.

Taib then gave his opening speech in front of State Cabinet ministers and DUN members.

After the speech, Taib and his wife, accompanied by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg and his wife Datin Patinggi Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tuanku Bujang, and Speaker Datuk Amar Mohd Asfia Awang Nassar joined the assemblymen for lunch, followed by a photo session.

The DUN sitting will conclude on May 9.
