SIBU: The Juma’ani Tuanku Haji Bujang Welfare Complex (KKJTHB) in Sibu has been instrumental in nurturing numerous orphans who have excelled academically since its inception.

According to its chairman, Datuk Mohamad Yusnar Matalie, last year saw 11 residents of the complex successfully continuing their studies at public universities and polytechnics.

“We don’t just provide basic necessities like shelter, clothing  and food but we also ensure a comprehensive education for the children,” he said in his speech at the Special Hari Raya Programme organised by the National Consumer Action Council (MTPN) Sibu branch at KKJTHB.

Yusnar hoped  that the achievements of the orphans at the complex would inspire other children to follow suit in the future.

“Apart from academic pursuits, the orphanage pays special attention to the holistic development of the children, including co-curricular activities and personal talents,” he said.

He also stressed the importance of boosting their self-confidence, given the losses they had experienced in life.
