SIBU: A total of 326 students returning from Malaya had undergone mandatory quarantine at Paramount Hotel here.

Chairman of Sibu Division Disaster Management Committee Charles Siaw, commended the hotel which had offered its 83 rooms as temporary quarantine centre since May 18.

“In compliance with our standard operating procedures (SOP) and safety precautions during the quarantine period, the hotel facilities including reception, cleaning, sanitising and laundry services were operated by well-trained and experienced staff with the cooperation of multiple agencies including health department, JPAM, police and Rela.

“We are happy to announce that during the whole quarantine period there was no positive case of Covid-19 detected among the quarantined persons and staffs. We can assure you that the hotel is safe to welcome its guests,” he said at a sanitisation programme at Paramount Hotel on Wednesday.

Siaw who is also Sibu Resident, said Premier Hotel and RH Hotel would remain as quarantine centres here.

One hundred fourteen persons are currently undergoing mandatory quarantine at designated quarantine centres in Sibu.
