KUCHING: Hock Seng Lee (HSL) brought cheer to The Salvation Army Kuching Children’s Home recently by cleaning and improving the shelter as part of its commitment towards its new “Healthy Bodies, Happy Minds” Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme.

Coordinated by its Human Resources and Corporate Communications Department, the company wide outreach programme was first launched in December last year to help the underprivileged communities and at the same time serve as a team-building activity for its staff.

The company sponsored all the equipment and materials, while some 40 staff, from various departments including accounts, project management, human resource and admin, visited the children residing at the home and helped refurbish the building and facilities to give the children a safe space to play.

HSL corporate communications manager Cheryl Cheah said the company remains highly committed in its role towards developing a “clean, green and healthy” community and encourages volunteerism among its employees.

“This is the third CSR event we have organised this year since “Healthy Bodies, Happy Minds” was rolled out. Our CSR efforts are driven by a sincere passion to make a difference in people’s lives. It’s a privilege to be able to give back to the community especially those who are less fortunate. What’s even more meaningful is that our employees got their hands dirty and saw the impact they had on the children,” said Cheah.
