SERIAN: Kedup assemblyman Datuk Martin Ben has assured the imminent appointment of Iban community leader positions, including Pemanca here.

Martin said that despite Serian’s elevation to divisional status, the appointment of Iban Pemanca remains pending.

He hoped for not only the establishment of the Iban community leader role but also the addition of penghulu positions as suggested by the district office.

“We hope that the Iban community leader position will soon be established and filled. Additionally, we advocate for the creation of more penghulu positions,” he said during the Community Leaders Programme at the Serian Community Hall yesterday (Feb 3).

At the event, Martin stressed the vital role of community leaders and village chiefs (KMKK) in facilitating government communication and policy updates to the grassroots.

“KMKK acts as both the government’s eyes and ears and as spokespersons, disseminating policies that are dynamic and subject to change,” he said.

Martin said that such initiatives are crucial for effective communication at the grassroots level and suggested more frequent meetings.
