Ibraco’s ‘Christmas Wonderland’ at Tabuan Tranquility until 23 Dec

KUCHING: Ibraco Bhd is ushering the Christmas festivity with many Father Christmases, Christmas trees, reindeers, snowmen, toy soldiers, teddy bears, presents and others. The ‘Christmas Wonderland’ at Tabuan Tranquality, the first of such outdoor event ever held in Kuching commenced on Sunday, 10 December until 23 December.

The e v ent was officially launched by Mayor of Kuching City South Council (MBKS), Dato James Chan Khay Syn last Sunday evening.

At Christmas Wonderland at Tabuan Tranquality, visitors can wonder through a miniature Christmas Wonderland – an indoor gallery with various decorated themes, especially appealing for those who are camera-ready and for those who love to indulge in the Christmas spirit.

Once exiting the Christmas Wonderland, visitors will enter the food and goodies galleria sessioncolourfully decorated food and goodies stalls showcasing various Christmas specialties.

Visitors will be entertained by nightly caroling performances from different church groups and associations. Rose Iwanaga and The Young Ones made special appearance on 10 December will make another appearance again on 21 December.

Rose Iwanaga, an Ex-Marian, is Sarawak’s very first English–language recording artiste as a solo singer of the band ‘The Avengers’.

Rose Iwanaga and The Avengers, as a performing band, were very much in demand between 1966 and 1968 performing at stage concerts, private parties, charitable functions, night clubs, military camps and over the radio.

Managing Director of Ibraco Berhad, Datuk Chew Hiaw Han said the event was held to welcome the colourful festivity in a very special way this year and added that the Christmas Wonderland at Tabuan Tranquility is the first of such outdoor event ever held in Kuching.

He also pointed out that it was also part of Ibraco’s fund raising community project for two selected charity bodies, namely Hope Place, which is Ibraco’s charity partner and the Sarawak Children’s Cancer Society.

“With just a small token of RM3 entrance fee for each visitor, we hope that the Christmas Wonderland will raise sufficient fund to lessen the sufferings of those who need our help. All the money raised will go directly to these two charity bodies.

In Ibraco, we believe in giving back to the community in which we are blessed to be part of,” he said. Meanwhile, Mayor Chan in his speech said as mayor he was very happy that Ibraco Berhad, a renowned premier property developer took the initiative to hold the Christmas Carnival as one of its outdoor communityoriented activities.

“Ibraco is one that has never failed to give back to the community. I understand that this time, the Ibraco’s two weeks Christmas Carnival is a fund-raising project for two charities namely Hope Place Kuching and the Sarawak Children’s Cancer Society,” he said.

Chan added that people are very much aware of the coming especially with all the songs and decorations in shopping centres and everywhere in Kuching. “However, we must always remember that Christmas in a sense is a time for gratitude and goodwill for people-a sense of joy and giving and it is also a time which may touch the hearts of many with love and hope.

“While enjoying ourselves with Christmas in the air, we must also not forget the welfare of the needy and less fortunate, the underprivileged and the disabled among us,” he said.

Chan pointed out that the entrance fee of RM3 collected and the donations will certainly bring cheer and hope to needy. He also congratulated Datuk Chew and his management team for organising the Chr istmas Carnival wi th the theme “Christmas Wonderland” at Tabuan Tranquility.
