KUCHING: Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg received a courtesy visit from the Associate Dean Faculty of Business and Economics, University of Melbourne, Matthew Greenwood-Nimmo on Tuesday.

During the visit, they discussed on forming a collaboration between Institut Pengurusan Sarawak (MASA) and the University of Melbourne to hold a programme to improve public service training in the state.

When met by reporters, Deputy State Secretary (Economic Planning and Development) Datuk Dr Muhammad Abdullah Zaidel stated that civil service training must be constantly updated in addition to getting new ideas or inputs to improve students’ skills.

He said the premier stated that those in the business field need knowledge in the new economy such as the digital and hydrogen economy.

“I believe the programme that will be conducted is valuable and it is open to any interested students or participations from the corporate or public sector,” he was quoted by the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS).

Also present during the courtesy visit were Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Sustainability Management and Science (IJSMS) Prof Dr Voon Boo Ho, a representative of the Premier’s Department Dr Intan Rahmah Mohd Tazuddin and MASA general manager Dr Krishnan Murali.
