Increase development programmes in Ngemah, Kanowit Agriculture urged

KANOWIT: The Kanowit District Agriculture Office is urged to increase the number of agricultural development programmes in the Ngemah state constituency.

Ngemah assemblyman Anyi Jana said this was to help increase the productivity and skills of farmers in an effort to boost their economy.

Apart from that, he also wanted appropriate training and workshops to be implemented.

“The Agriculture Office also needs to emphasise on several issues such as the type of assistance provided by its office and the Kanowit Area Farmers Organisation (PPK), and the type of crops that are suitable and should be given attention in Ngemah,” he said during a visit to Kanowit Agriculture on Tuesday (May 10).

During the visit, he was briefed on agricultural issues and also issues involving Kanowit PPK, especially for the Ngemah constituency.

Anyi also explained about the budget for agricultural activities that could be applied from the Ulu Rajang Development Agency (URDA).

He also wanted the implementation of more frequent field trips between his service centre and Kanowit  Agriculture.

Also present were Sibu Division Agriculture officer Badin Unor, Kanowit District Agriculture officer Nicholas Jati, Kanowit PPK general manager Mohd Taufik and Kanowit PPK chairman Sandai Rawing.
