SERIAN: The community, especially Muslims, have been urged to deepen their knowledge on religion to produce a generation that loves religion and the nation.
The Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS) quoted Bukit Semuja assemblyman John Ilus as saying that having a deeper knowledge of religion is important especially among the youths today.
He said this while officiating at the Takbir Raya, Azan and Hafazan Competition held in conjunction with the Hari Raya Aidiladha celebration at the Kampung Hilir Serian Multipurpose Hall on Tuesday.
John welcomed the the programme as one of the platforms to encourage the community, especially the younger generation to deepen their knowledge of Islam.
Apart from that, he was also impressed with the participation of mostly youths in the competition.
The programme was organised by Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Kampung Hilir Serian Branch in collaboration with the Kampung Hilir Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK).
Earlier on Monday, the assemblyman donated five cows in conjunction with the Serian-level Hari Raya Aidiladha to the Resident’s Office.
