Indonesian worker hurt in attack

SEPUPOK, NIAH: A 32-year-old estate worker sustained injury on his left forehead and arm after he was attacked by an Indonesian man wielding a Samurai sword near a workshop here last Sunday night.

In the 10pm incident, the victim, also an Indonesian was taken to a clinic nearby before he was warded at Miri Hospital for medical treatment.

Fortunately, the injury was not life threatening.

Prior to the attack, the victim and a friend had stopped at a petrol station before he went to the workshop to meet his attacker.

During the meeting the suspect known only as “Kambak” made an appearance armed with a samurai sword.

During the attack, the victim’s friend shouted for help which caused the suspect to flee the scene on foot.

As at press time no arrest has been made and police are still investigating the actual cause of the incident.

The case is being investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt using a dangerous weapons.
