KUCHING: Civil servants and members of the public are reminded to uphold integrity in the fight against corruption.

The reminder came from Minister in the Chief Minister’s Office (Integrity and Ombudsman) Datuk Talib Zulpilip when he officiated at an Integrity Plogging Programme held at the old State Legislative Assembly building here yesterday.

The event attracted more than 800 participants.

He also explained that in tackling corruption, integrity should not be politicised.

“I will not be siding any individual found to be involved in corruption and power abuse. Those who are involved in graft should be investigated,” he added.

He was also confident that the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) had done its job well and fully supported the fight against corruption.

“We support the MACC and if there is a political element in terms of integrity, it’s bad,” he said.

Talib further revealed that Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg is very concerned with integrity.

“Integrity must be applied to all individuals, corporations, civil servants and government representatives when carrying out their duties,” he said and advised everyone not to be involved in power abuse.

The programme with the theme, “Be Clean Be Green Be Integrity” is aimed at instilling a sense of responsibility to address environmental issues as well as fostering a culture of integrity through various activities including collecting garbage and walking activities.

Among those present was the State Secretary Tan Sri Morshidi Abdul Ghani.
