MIRI: Authorities have initiated an investigation to determine the cause of a significant number of fish deaths in the Miri Bulatan pond.
The Miri City Council (MCC) released a statement on Tuesday (July 11) acknowledging the incident, which occurred on the morning of July 10.
In response to the incident, the MCC’s Landscape Section promptly activated submerged aerators in the lake to enhance the oxygen level in the water, as stated in the press release.
Additionally, workers from the council’s contractor removed more than 15 dead fish from the lake.
To ascertain the cause of the fish deaths and implement necessary remedial measures, MCC collected a water sample from the lake for analysis by the relevant government department.
Concurrently, park wardens have been diligently monitoring the situation for any further developments.
