Investors call on Deputy Premier to express interest in EV sector in Sarawak

KUCHING: Deputy Premier of Sarawak and Minister for International Trade, Industry and Investment and Minister for Natural Resources and Urban Development, Sarawak Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hassan met the Development manager from Element 25 Limited, Australia, Neil Graham and Country advisor, Azli Mohd Zin on their proposed investment in Sarawak at Wisma Sumber Alam here today.

In a press release here today, a spokesperson said the meeting is a follow-up from the visit of State Delegation led by Awang Tengah to Australia where the company briefed the Deputy Premier on its proposal.

“Element 25 is interested to invest in production of high purity manganese sulphate for lithium-ion battery and is visiting Sarawak to conduct feasibility study for the project.

“Malaysia (including Sarawak) is attracting interest in the EV sector, where there is already a copperfoil manufacturer operating in Kuching,” the spokesperson added.

Also present were Datuk Dr. Malcolm Mussen Lamoh, Deputy Minister for International Trade, Industry and Investment, Dzulkornain Masron (Acting Permanent Secretary to MINTRED) and senior government officials from EPU Sarawak, PETROS, SEB, BDA and Samalaju Port.
