IPT students will receive one-off RM200 under PRIHATIN

PUTRAJAYA: All higher education institution students will receive a one-off payment of RM200 under the people-centric economic package (PRIHATIN), announced by the government today.

Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin in announcing the package said they would receive the payment in May.

“I did not forget students in higher education institutions.

“This assistance involves an allocation of RM270 million to be given to students at all tertiary levels including matriculation, community college, polytechnic, IPTA (Public Higher Education Institution) and IPTS (Private Higher Education Institution),” he said.

Muhyiddin said the government also agreed to defer repayment of the Skills Development Fund Corporation (PTPK) loans for six months, beginning April 1 to Sept 31, 2020.

The initiative will benefit an estimated of 174,500 borrowers, involving collection amounting to RM149.2 million, said the prime minister.

The government had previously announced a six-month deferment of the National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) loans that will involve collection amounting to RM750 million. – Bernama
