Flood around the Nurul Hidayah Mosque

JULAU: The Sarawak Information Department (JaPen) Julau Branch distributed ‘Flood Disaster Safety Guide’ pamphlets to the residents of Julau District as part of the flood preparedness measures.

It was part of the precautionary measures to enhance flood announcements through the use of ‘Info On Wheels’ (IOW).

This was done as soon as Malaysian Meteorological Department announced that there will be continuous rain in several districts in Sarawak.

The Mobile Unit for JaPen Julau is monitoring flood prone areas including the banks of Sungai Kanowit, Masjid Nurul Hidayah, Nanga Ijit, Nanga Lijan and other areas around the district.

Meanwhile, Julau District field officer Rick Anderson Rini said that activities to monitor and issue flood announcements around Julau are carried out continuously for at least twice a week to ensure that residents are always on the lookout for floods in view of the unpredictable weather.

“The warning is issued so that residents are always alert and abide to every instruction issued by the authorities from time to time,” he said.
