SIBU: Junior Chamber International (JCI) Malaysia held its Senate Night cum Installation of 2024 JCIM Senate Board of Directors & Awards banquet with the theme of “Let Our Light Shine,” at a prominent hotel here on Saturday.

Bukit Assek assemblyman Joseph Chieng Jin Ek was the guest of honour and was represented by Cr Kiing Teck Ho at the event.

Kiing, who delivered Chieng’s text of speech, expressed his immense joy to hear that JCI Malaysia Senate has chosen Sibu as the location for this significant event.

“This event wouldn’t be possible without the support of the JCI Senators who have contributed their time, energy, and resources to this event. Their commitment to the values of JCI is evident, and their collective efforts have been crucial in making this event a reality. Their willingness to support and foster the growth of this organisation is truly inspiring.

“As we gather here tonight under the theme of “Let Our Light Shine,” let us remember the significance of this message. In a world where our differences sometimes seem insurmountable, it is our duty as JCI Senators to unite, rise above these differences, and work together with unwavering determination.

“Regardless of our race, religion, or background, let us join hands and intensify our efforts to take our beloved country to even greater heights of pride, and excellence. It is through our collective commitment to the principles of JCI that we can make a meaningful impact and be a beacon of hope and inspiration in our communities,” he stressed.

To all the JCI Senators and delegates present, Chieng encouraged them to make the most of their time in Sibu, enjoying its beauty, the warmth of its people, and the camaraderie of fellow JCI members.

In his maiden speech, the newly installed JCI Malaysia senate president, Patrick Teo from JCI Kota Kinabalu highlighted that since his journey with JCI began back in 2014, it has been a transformative experience that has enriched his life in countless ways.

He pointed out that the opportunities for growth and learning that JCI has provided him with have been truly unparalleled.

He said it is this very experience that fuels his dedication and compels him to contribute even more to this cherished organisation.

“As we embark on this new chapter together, I am excited to unveil my presidential theme, encapsulated by the acronym F.I.T. This theme embodies the essence of our collective aspirations and serves as a guiding light for the journey ahead.

“F.I.T. signifies, Flourish, Inclusive, and Trailblaze. It is a call to action, urging us all to embrace these principles as we strive for excellence and progress within our organisation.

“One of my primary focuses during my tenure as president is to strengthen our membership base. To achieve this, I am committed to forging robust networking connections with the national board, areas teams, and our esteemed members.

“Additionally, I am dedicated to establishing Regional Senate chapters throughout Malaysia. It is my fervent hope to start the ball rolling towards the establishment of a Senate chapter in every JCI local organisation across the nation in the future.

“This platform provides the opportunity for senior members to pool their collective wisdom and experience and to continue serving our beloved organisation. By fostering a sense of unity and collaboration, we can amplify our collective impact and advance the mission of JCI throught Malaysia,” Teo further said.

Teo took over the JCI Malaysia senate presidency post from immediate past president Shirley Ling of JCI Seduan. Among those present was the organising chairperson Samantha Yong.
